Easter is coming!
St John’s prepares, in the drama and devotion of Holy Week
Join us as we travel with Jesus this Holy Week, from his entry into Jerusalem to his crucifixion and resurrection on the first Easter Day.
Palm Sunday, March 29th Eucharist Service 9am
Palms commemorate the scattering of leaves before Jesus as he rode into Jerusalem on a donkey.
Maundy Thursday, April 2nd. Supper at 6pm and Eucharist at 7pm.
We mark the Last Supper of Jesus with his apostles with our own supper in the parish hall, and our service begins there at 7pm.
Mother Jackie washes the feet of parishioners, following Jesus’ act of humility in washing the feet of his apostles before the Last Supper and his command to them to follow his example.

Bread and wine are blessed during the service, but there is no celebration of the eucharist. Instead the Holy Sacrament is carried to the altar of repose to await Easter Sunday.
As a final act, we strip the altar of all cloths and ornaments and leave the church in silence.
Good Friday, April 3rd. Service at 7pm.
A solemn service focused on the crucifixion of Jesus, with the Gospel account of Jesus’ death on the cross.
Holy Saturday, April 4th. Easter Vigil, 7pm.
The paschal candle is lit, and the congregation sprinkled with holy water, after the renewal of our baptismal vows.
Easter Day, April 5th. Eucharist Service, 9am.
Our joyful celebration of the principal festival of the Christian year!

We commemorate Jesus’ resurrection with a eucharist service and an Easter party in the parish hall.
