christian education

CHRISTIAN FORMATION IS THE LIFELONG PROCESS OF GROWING IN OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD, SELF, OTHERS, AND ALL CREATION. EVERY EXPERIENCE IN OUR LIVES CAN PROVIDE US WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO LIVE OUR FAITH. WE MEET TOGETHER TO ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER IN THIS PROCESS.

Youth Ministry

Our aim is to cultivate a compassionate and resilient spirit in young people through the knowledge and practice of the Christian faith. Our programs are designed to educate and engage young people about God and our Christian tradition so that the knowledge they gain can be transformed into wisdom as they live their lives and draw on this foundation.

Mother Jackie Cameron is our Director of Christian Education, with her focus on Adult Christian Education. Evamarie Cooper and Jan Nykyforchyn will work with her with their focus on Children’s Christian Education. All Christian Youth Education personnel are trained according to the Diocesan Safe Church Guidelines.

Women’s Bible Study/Book Study

WBS – also known as Women’s Bible Study – is a fellowship of ‘Women Bible Sisters’ who come together each Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 11:30 in the Guild Room to share in study and support each other in their spiritual journey. Each session begins with the message of Forward Day by Day, and all are encouraged to use this resource on a daily basis.

The group most often reads and shares insights of a number of printed materials. During the past year books included The Way of Love - Bible Challenge edited by Marek Zabriskie, We are All One by Joan Chittister and most recently A Way to the Manger – Devotions for Advent and Christmas. We often end our sessions with a chapter from God’s Good Earth from Anne and Jeffery Rowthorn.

The group occasionally ventures beyond the parish and this year Claudia Thesing arranged a tour of The Land Carries Our Ancestors, with Lisa Williams, Curator at New Britain Museum of American Art.

All women are welcome.
